Dating a guarded person

Peace comes as a comfort rooted in our trust in God that is expressed in the process of prayer. So, guarding your heart is the result of clear communication.Being in a relationship with an emotionally unavailable man can be a strenuous experience on so many levels. When a partner is emotionally unavailable, they repeatedly refuse to engage in deep discussions or communicate on an emotional level.Despite all of the above, a relationship with an EU can still be amazing—as long as both people in the relationship are not looking for anything serious. The good thing about someone who is EU is that very often they will be aware of this, and make it very clear from the outset. It begins with prayer to God (as Paul lays out in Philippians 4:6-7) and overflows into communication with the other person.

Simplified, an EU will not be in a position to allow themselves to fall in love and they will struggle to “show up” and be accountable in the relationship.

But more frequently, emotional unavailability is seen as the hallmark of short or dysfunctional relationships.

Even though the signs of emotional unavailability may be easy to spot or even clearly advertised by someone, it doesn’t make it any easier to cope with the difficulties of pursuing a relationship with an emotionally unavailable partner – especially if you have become heavily emotionally involved yourself.

It is at the start very uncomfortable, awkward and even alien to someone who wasn’t taught how to be available emotionally growing up.

What we have to accept is that no one can lead you to emotional availability not even someone you are truly in love with.
