Java gui not updating

I'm trying to update my GUI (for example changing text/color of j Button and j Label via hotkey) using jnativehooks so it updates my GUI when I press a hotkey, however after hours of searching and trying, I'm still not having any luck. Note that my JFrame is a static variable and that create And Show GUI is invoked using invoke Later() and new Runnable like Java Sun suggests.

I'm running both IE Explorer and Firefox under XP SP2. They note that the Windows Installer may be the issue.

A couple of months ago, the latest version of Java stopped working on IE; Firefox was fine. Here's the article with the utility to try. if this doesn't help, but I don't have much to work with here.
